FAQ

  • Do you accept insurance?

To be able to provide you a superior experience and take all the necessary time we need with our clients, we are out of network providers. After your visit, we can create a superbill which you can submit to insurance to apply it toward your out of network benefits or deductible. We do take FSA and HSA plans.

Any labs that are needed to be done go through your insurance, similar to a routine in-network practice. If you do not have insurance, we have negotiated cash pay rates for labs and can let you know what the cost would be.

  • What is an out of network provider?

Insurance is notorious for underpaying providers and having a billing team is a signficant cost so this leads to practices needing to see more and more clients. As the client this means longer waits to get in to see your provider, long waiting room times, and quick visits where usually only one concern can be addressed. Being out of network allows us to create the environment our clients deserve in healthcare. It means that we do not charge your insurance for payment. After your appointment, our clients complete their invoice. We will send you a superbill that you then submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

  • Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! In an effort to increase access to care as we believe our services should be available for all, we offer monthly installment payments. A card will be kept on file and charged on the date that you choose. Payments for services can be paid monthly over 1 to 4 months. There is a small 5% administrative invoice to facilitate the payment plan that is added to the total invoice and then divided by the amount of months you want your payment plan to go for.

  • How many visits do I need?

Cliché answer but every client case and need is different. A majority of our clients only need 1 appointment to have their concern resolved. Sometimes a second appointment is needed to check in and tweak the plan or to address another concern that was previously less important for the client to address but now is more present now that the primary concern is resolving. For clients who ARE IN sex counseling, these visits are like most counseling/therapy so the amount varies. Some clients are able to and find it productive to come often, others use it as more of a seminar style and have a few visits.

  • I have many concerns, can the all be addressed in 1 appointment?

Yes! So often clients’ concerns overlap and all influence each other. The more we can break down the silos of healthcare, the better care will be. Sometimes you may need more than one appointment to address multiple concerns or may need a referral but we want to hear about everything that may impact your care. Common overlapping concerns we see include but are not limited to: Painful penetration and low libido, hormonal changes and low libido, weight changes and PCOS.

  • What is the difference between a health visit and a counseling visit?

A health visit will address your concerns from a biopsychosocial approach. This includes taking your health history, a physical exam if needed, referrals, lab work, and prescriptions. A counseling visit also is taken from a biopsychosocial approach but does not include any medical management such as a physical exam, labs, or prescriptions. Counseling is talking through concerns and thoughts, exploring different patterns, creating cognitive and behavioral changes, and providing education.

  • Why don't you have a round the clock receptionist to answer the phone

We aren’t like other offices where we are seeing 30-40 clients a day. We want time with our clients and especially because we are out of network want to save them as much money as possible. While we know there is always improvements and work to be done from an administrative standpoint, we are a small business and want to save money to pass that along to our clients. We don’t think the cost to have someone sitting at the phone m-f 9-5 to schedule us a max of 6 clients a day is worth passing on the cost to those clients when email is quicker for us and most of our clients.
